Distinguished and Famous people from Tyabb
🤝 Rosie Batty
Rosie Batty's advocacy followed the killing of her son Luke by his father at Tyabb cricket ground in 2014. She spoke publicly about family violence and the need for systems and attitudes that better protected women and children. Named Australian of the Year in 2015, she used that national platform for campaigning, including the Never Alone initiative through the Luke Batty Foundation. Her later work and writing continued to address violence and the experiences of survivors. Tyabb is a deeply personal local connection within a public life devoted to preventing other families from suffering similar harm.
✈️ Judy Pay
Judy Pay's Old Aeroplane Company at Tyabb maintains and restores historic aircraft, including examples that can return to the air. Her work has involved aircraft such as a Mustang, Harvard and a rare Merlin-powered P-40, whose restoration required years of specialised effort. Flying and preservation meet in that work: keeping an old aircraft operational demands mechanical expertise as well as historical care. Peninsula Aero Club also records her contribution of time and equipment to community flypasts and local aviation activity. Tyabb's connection is a sustained working base for restoring, maintaining and flying these machines.
